While there are always plenty of fun things to do near Ocean, nothing quite compares to the activities that arise when fall comes around. With Halloween right around the corner, and plenty of autumn fun to be had in the meantime, there’s no shortage of fall-time events near Ocean. Find out which fall activities you should take advantage of this season!

Haunted Scarehouse

Fall means it’s time for haunted houses, and there are plenty to choose from in the Freehold area. Take the Haunted Scarehouse, for example, which is considered New Jersey’s largest and scariest haunted house. With terror at every turn, you may leave a bit shaken up – but there’s no doubt you’ll have fun along the way!

Wagner Farm Arboretum’s Brite Nites

Following in the Halloween-themed activities is the annual Wagner Farm Arboretum’s Brite Nites event. Boasting elaborate displays of hand-carved pumpkins, a secret haunted garden, and the ever-popular Black Hat Café, this event is sure to be fun for the whole family.

Tranquility Farms

Head to Tranquility Farms in Andover for its Fall Festival! Take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, explore the corn maze and petting zoo, and participate in a variety of other family-friendly activities.

Fall Leave Sightings

What’s fall without viewing the leaves on the trees change colors? There are plenty of places near Ocean to catch the best foliage sights, and it all depends on timing. In late September to early October, it would be best to visit Stokes State Forest in Branchville or High Point State Park in Sussex.

Later in the season, from early to mid-October, head to Ringwood State Park, the New Jersey Botanical Gardens, or Abram S. Hewitt State Forest. Mid- to late October merits a trip to Lake Hopatcong, and by the time early November rolls around, consider Wharton State Forest.
