How To Measure Tire Tread Depth
The most sure-fire way to measure your tread depth is to use a tread depth gauge, if you have one handy, to see if your tire tread is between 10/32nds of an inch and 2/32nds of an inch. Without a tread gauge, the easiest way to measure tire tread depth is to insert a penny with Lincoln’s head facing down into your tire’s grooves — if you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, then your tires are considered ‘bald’ and you should order new tires before driving again. Healthy tires with a good tire tread depth would cover the top of Lincoln’s head. If you can’t see his hairline, your Acura tires are in good condition.

Standard Acura tires are crafted with 10/32nds of an inch of tread. Once the tread gets to 2/32nds of an inch or less, your tire is considered “bald.” A bald tire is much more likely to spring a leak, get punctured, and lose air pressure than a healthy tire.
