So, who owns Acura? Acura is owned by Honda, which is a Japanese automaker, and the brand was established in 1986. Honda introduced its luxury line of Acura models to U.S. and Canadian markets around this time and began to quickly make waves with drivers. This was due in large part to the first Acura which was originally called the Channel II. Since then, Acura models have grown not only in both countries but also the rest of the world, and Acura maintains the dedication to quality and standards started by Honda since its inception.
Despite being the subsidiary of a Japanese company, many of Acura’s most popular sedans and SUVs such as the ILX, TLX, RDX, and MDX, are produced right here in North America. Ohio has become the unintentional Acura capital, as its Marysville plant contains the largest production capacity among its four locations throughout the state, which also include plants in East Liberty, Anna, and Russells Point, Ohio.
Marysville is not only where the Acura ILX and Acura TLX luxury cars are made but it is also the home of the Acura performance manufacturing center and where the first Acura NSX supercar was created. In addition, the East Liberty plant is responsible for manufacturing models like the Acura RDX and Acura MDX luxury SUVs. At the Anna plant, you can see how many of Acura’s celebrated and dependable engines and drivetrain components are produced, while the Russel Point plant is known for manufacturing Acura transmissions and related components like the four-wheel drive systems.
